Took a chance on this bench a couple of years ago when Irwin wasn't as well known in the US and actually drove up to Canada to reduce the shipping costs, and have 0 regrets. It's fantastic and worth it if you have the budget.
I bought the ironmaster super bench pro v2 because of your reviews, and honestly it's my dream bench. super light and does everything I'm looking for it to do. I've always really loved a steep incline for sit-ups and it's obviously the best at that but for it's size, weight, and the fact that it doesn't have a gap, there really isn't an other bench I think I would want. I work out mostly in a half rack and it's really easy to get out of the way when I need to do squats. Thank you very much for the work that you do.
Same here. Love the IM SB Pv2 with the leg attachments. (I just wished the seat angle was adjustable) And while I won’t be trading my IM bench, I can appreciate that this Irwin Fitness bench is truly a work of art. Great review Gluck!
Irwin Fitness prices are wild (for all products- take a look at their rigs/racks). I have not clue how a company that hasn't built a top-tier reputation yet, can charge more than Rogue products. That's nuts
Looks like a very good bench and I really like the finish. I own the REP BlackWing and absolutely Love it! Yep it’s a heavy bench, but I am in the gym to lift heavy stuff. Honestly, I dont have any trouble moving it around. Thanks so much for always giving us premier quality reviews. Love the channel.
You got me. I was watching the video about this bench, and then I noticed it. The GetRXd RX3 in the background. It had been there the whole time, but I didn't notice it until the Tornado arms were down. So, I had to scrub the whole video to see what I missed. 😅 you got extra watch time for the WIN! 👏 Look forward to seeing the review on the GetRXd RX3.
It’s an amazing looking bench! That color is amazing and I would definitely swap out all my storage and benches for them with that color. Well done- excellent review as always! Proud of my Canadian brethren. PS Good for them for using Moose to transport. Imagine the cost if they used Canadian Geese or Beavers.
@@jhcali71 blackwing is a tank but definitely a niche product because if the zero gap and attachments not being made for the bench. you can look into bolt fitness attachments that might fit your rep blackwing.
Here's another request for a review of the dumbbell storage rack. Also, I'd love to see a comparison video of premium home benches--perhaps "Blackwing Beaters," or something like that.
the shipping alone to USA is the price of a rep bench. I know this is a really good bench but if I were to nip pick there are way too many bolts on that Irwin bench. I'm happy to get my rep 5200 2.0 in clear coat for $500. ill be ready to get a Irwin bench once they figure out the lower shipping costs in the future.
When I upgraded from my Rep AB 5200 for my 2nd bench it was between Irwin Fitness AB 1.0 and Straydog Alpha Dog, and Sorinex 0-90 NP4 weight bench which I really wanted, however they wanted $900 for shipping which is insane IMO for a $1,100 bench. I decided to go with Stray Dog bench which I really like and very similar to the Irwin Bench. My black grippy pad is almost too grippy for me at times it sticks like glue! I also had to pay extra for my custom Gym Logo emblem. I have 3 other custom things made from Irwin Fitness such as their roller J-Cup which are great, custom squat handles etc. They are a great company and I hope you enjoy the bench. I will say this my stray dog bench can be somewhat awkward to move around my gym and my Rep 5200 is like a feather compared to the Stray Dog but it's solid and I do enjoy it. I did want the Prime Fitness shorty bench, however it did not come with a vertical stand which is imperative for my home gym as I lack the space such as your gym! LOL
Looking forward to that RX3 Tornado Rack review!! Any updates on the MAXUM SX2 review as well? Seems like the latest revision is out and available now! Plus they've added an X2 which is a full 6-post 3" x 3" + 1" holes option with an optional smith machine add-on via a trolley system similar to the VTS.
Can you look at the power block power bench 2.0 next? The price and attachments make it look like a great alternative to the iron master option. Appreciate you and your content Gluck!
Irwin is awesome, I requested them to make me roller J-Cups for my 3/4 hole bridgebuilt rack and they shipped it to Germany! that was 4 years ago and the J-Cups look solid (they are solid never had as heavy J-Cups in my hands evr before (the old hammerstrength J-Cups maybe) but sooo solid
I watched your video, went to irwins website, built the bench out and was shocked by how cheap it seemed considering the quality. The snag that took me a couple days to get over was the shipping cost. Ill take the hit considering Ive wanted a bench that stores vertically but I dont like anything on the market better than my rep ab 3000 1.0. This I think is enough of an upgrade. Hopefully for others in the future they figure out a better shipping deal, I know a lot of other companies that pack in enough margin to take a hit on freight shipping, this seems to be the direct cost passed on so I cant really fault them.
Sorry, saying, in your words, “that comparing prices doesn’t make sense,” doesn’t fly if you are going to use the REP 5200 as your main comparison. You aren’t comparing a premium with an entry level crummy bench. You are comparing two premium level benches, and unfortunately we didn’t hear anything close to justifying double the price of the REP AB-5200. It is very nice appearing, and one can think it is subjectively nicer looking, (I still prefer the clear coat of REP’s for the ultimate in appearance), and you can applaud that it isn’t built in China (though still not made in America), or that it has a couple more bolts and great finish quality, but at the end of the day they are both fantastic benches, stronger than anyone will ever need, sharp looking, and of premium quality. Rogue may be a little nervous about Manta Ray sales, but shipping charge alone for this new entrant could nearly pay for the REP AB 5200 so REP is likely resting easy.
Felt very garage gym reviews. Even made the mouth gape slack jaw soy face. I thought that was reserved for men signaling their wife is available for bedtime.
Pretty cool bench, but it’s just not practical to ship it fully assembled. The $400 shipping cost just kills this for the majority of potential home gym users IMO.
All should note that the price is actually even higher than noted because the flat rate of shipping to the US doesn’t include residential delivery. The website says you will have to pay a surcharge for residential delivery
You should review the Tru Grit Icon, it seems to have a different design than most other benches with the laser cut slots being on the top, rather than the bottom of the frame, so it is kinda unique
At that price point, I’d probably get the BridgeBuilt Phoenix Bench. It’s fully adjustable AND folds flat so one could conceivably hang it on the wall when not in use. I like stuff off the floor as much as possible. Easier to clean that way (sacrilege, I know).
Garth Irwin should really consider to make a 2.0 with the capability of the V2.0 with a Foot Catch, so it can be direct competitive with Rogue Manta Ray! Irwin already won in many different colours and built quality compare to Rogue Manta Ray …. With the Foot Catch, and for similar price to Manta Ray … I might just choose Irwn Bench V2.0 with the Foot Catch 😏😏😏 Plus Irwin now have a wider pad and grippy pad option which is already better … The Irwin Pad also is 59” compare to Manta pad which is 57”. I do love the many colour options and the Iron Man Red! However, I think Chrome Gold, Illusion Purple and Candy Purple (more glossy colours) should be added to the lineup

It's a solid bench I just think a better pad would make it an absolute knock out of the park. That being did, my opinion doesn't matter at all if you love yours.
Would be great to see as many benches compared. For example, is the flybird really THAT much worse than the premium ones? What about when accounting in price/value? If I'm 90% of the way there for 25% of the price, not bad!
